My Take: I’ll admit my first impression of the place wasn’t that good, I thought it looked rather ‘local’ for a joint in Karen. When I was first told about Road House Karen, I had pictured something totally different. Something similar to Pamba, Fogo Gaucho or those other Brazilian steak houses. Don’t get me wrong, am not hating on the place, I actually did ended up enjoying my time there, just that I had initially envisioned something different. Now, to the food…I cannot remember a place where I’ve had Choma done that good!! Most places are over-hyped and serve more bones than meat, or serve those nasty, fatty cuts of meat, but no, not this place. Both the Choma and the Beef Fry were 💯 ‘magnifique’ , hands down the best meat I’ve had this year. The drinks are also really affordable – local beers going for about Ksh.180 ✅ ✅ . I actually dare anyone to find a cheaper joint in Karen. Had a good time and enjoyed the food, a very nice place for hanging out with the boys for Choma and drinks

My Take: If you like Koroga chicken as much as my friend, Jude, then you’ve got to try it at Nyumbani Restaurant. It’s located in Kilimani in a nice, quiet, secluded neighbourhood. An ideal place for a family lunch, they’ve got a kiddie area, a nice big screen TV for the football fans and you can enjoy some nice, smooth, jazzy music from Dotty and the Hashtag band on Sunday afternoons.

My Take: Wifey hooked us up with a complimentary lunch for 2 at the Artisan Restaurant, Sankara! Located at the heart of Westlands, The Sankara hotel is known for it’s class and 5 star service, our experience there confirmed this. The Restaurant is on the ground floor and has a cosy outdoor setting with a somewhat formal atmosphere. I was fascinated by the high quality cutlery, which looked antique-like (almost made away with a spoon or two 👀 ). We had the mutton rogan gosh with naan and Chicken Tikka with Rice, all which was top-notch! The service, as expected, was also excellent. We sadly didn’t get a chance to visit the roof-top bar, which I hear has a exquisite view of Nairobi city, but that’s on my 2017 to-do list.

My Take: If you like a restaurant overlooking water, then you’ll love the outdoor setting of Lagoon restaurant. It has a nice view as you look across the Lagos Lagoon to Lagos Island especially at night. They have a variety of cuisine on their menu, mostly international, but also have local food available. We ordered some indian food – cant recall specifically which food, but there was Naan and some chicken. Also had some Chinese – Cashew nut chicken and fried rice and an assorted meat platter. The food was really good, and the quantities generous (No time did I complain about the portions in Nigeria). A nice place to take a date or to chill out on a hot sunny day.

My Take: It might not be the typical restaurant you’d expect me to post on, but, there’s just something about the Chicken wraps at Chicken Inn that’s got me hooked (I think they sprinkle some certain white powder 😉 somebody cue in 🎵🎵”I’m in ❤️ with the coco”🎵🎵, coz am seriously addicted to those wraps) Try them out spicy 😋

My Take: About Thyme is one of the restaurants that has been on my radar for the longest time. I’ve read so many reviews about the place and had to give it a try. I took my wife there for her birthday, more than a year ago (tells you how late this post is 😦 ). I cannot honestly remember the exact meals we ordered, but I know it was some sort of chicken, served with rice and steak served with potato wedges, I think. The restaurant has an interesting ambiance, the area has a lot of trees, and a nice outdoor setting – best enjoyed on a hot day.

My Take: Ok, I know, I know, enough with the fried rice…But I loooove the fried rice here!! This is undoubtedly the one meal I can order over and over, and in my humble opinion, Cake Plaza still make it best. I like it with extra pepper and extra soy sauce, yummy!!! i might actually pass by there after this article. Wow!! and I always wash it down with a cold coke and lemon. #KwaRahaZangu
