NRW2014 @ Sierra Brasserie

My Take:¬†This was the first restaurant on my list for the Nairobi Restaurant Week (NRW2014). I’ve always wanted to eat at Sierra but for some reason I found the place a bit intimidating, even though I’ve been to other classy…ish joints. We sat at the Terrace (Beer Garden) which had a good view of the street below. The place had a ‘Brew Bistro’ kinda feel to it, I guess maybe coz of the signature beers available. The service was ok and the food didn’t take to long to arrive. I will reserve my comments on the food, am sure someone somewhere – probably France, would really have enjoyed it, but it was just too foreign for me ūüė¶

My Take: After walking out of a restaurant (not mentioning names) in the vicinity, coz of their BS policy, I found myself at Pride Inn, Westlands. Now this place I loved! A friend of mine had always insisted I visit and now I understand why. The service was excellent, I noticed the waiters were a bit older than most places I’ve been, but they were really friendly. The ambience is also pretty good! The food, oh my, the food! They’ve got Chinese, Indian and Continental cuisine. They are quite generous with the potions – which I find very important for a restaurant and it was simply delicious – unfortunately the pics I took don’t do the food justice, t’was kinda dark, should consider getting myself a DSLR. This is a place I’m going to frequent, if you haven’t been, I suggest you visit soon.

NRW2014 @ Taste of China

My Take: From the lobby of VIP Plaza, Westlands you’ll feel as if you are in China. The decor, even in the elevator as you go up to the restaurant is all Chinese – in a good way. The restaurant looks great especially the view of the CBD from the terrace, definitely a place you take someone you’re trying to impress! Despite the name, the menu did not feel very Chinese-y, but it does have a lot of variety. The service was on point, we were served by a different waiter every few minutes – not sure if this is a good thing or not, but they definitely don’t have a shortage of staff here. The food was excellent especially the chicken popcorn… I don’t know what was in the spring roll but it was really really good! The food experience was spectacular! Please note, before you visit make sure you’ve enquired about the opening hours – check link below.
